Redemption

I went to a PowerPoint presentation one day and a speaker showed up. Don't know how it happened. There were plenty of slides. The people in the back row were comatose after the first three clicks. Within 10 minutes a mind reader would have found that 90 percent of the audience was traveling to Tahiti or making grocery lists.

But then the slides stopped and the presenter started speaking. Nothing fancy, mind you, but in a conversational tone. Serious stuff that went right to the core. The back row perked up. People began to realize that some good information was in the room. Clear stuff that could be put to immediate use. You could see smiles. Eyes were sparkling. All was well.

The PowerPoint was forgiven.
