Transition: The Notebook

For the past two years, I have served as the president of the board of directors of an organization that has the odd characteristic of being both a state agency and a non-profit group. I'll be termed out in November [Thank God!] and will be turning the job over to another board member.

That has triggered a project: Preparing a notebook for my successor. The President's Notebook will contain information on the expected topics, such as major projects and responsibilities, and bits of advice on some minor things that aren't so minor if fumbled. There are important intangibles that come with any job. Those are the nitty-gritty things you really want to know. A sit-down with the new president will also permit me to give some candid assessments that one wouldn't put in a notebook.

It should be amusing.
