Commission and Omission
If we were to list management sins, would the ones of omission outnumber those of commission?
My guess is that they would. A multitude of management problems can result from a failure to praise, motivate, monitor, analyze, protect, explain, clarify, follow-up, and measure. Omission seems to be the lesser sin and so it is more easily justified than its more active relative.
Perhaps our progress reports should include a page on what we are not doing. That may be the most revealing section.

I've always liked the question: "What have you not told me that I should know."
Kurt,
Great question!
