Too Busy to Notice


The epitaph for many careers could read, "Too Busy to Notice."

People can get too busy to notice:

  • The market has changed.
  • The team no longer believes in the mission.
  • Customers are feeling ignored.
  • The old approaches are no longer working.
  • Good people are leaving.
  • Skills are eroding.
  • A bureaucratic mentality is spreading.
  • Succession planning is needed.
  • The files should be pruned.
  • Follow-up has ebbed.
  • A key person is upset.
  • Their family life is falling apart.
  • A crisis is quietly developing.
And much more.
