"So what's the problem?"
"I know it is the right thing, but I really don't want to do it. It will be difficult and probably unpleasant."
"So what do you need from me?"
"I want you to come up with another approach which seems like the right thing although it certainly won't be but it will be much easier to do. If I have that, then I can use it as a substitute for doing the right thing."
"So you don't want a solution, you want an excuse."
"Correct. A really clever-sounding excuse. And one which doesn't require too much work."
"And results, I take it, are optional."
"Don't even worry about them."
