What to Overlook

A brief collection:

  • Snubs. Who knows whether they were truly intended? Even if they were, it doesn't pay to dwell on them and surrender control of your mood to another person.
  • Regrets. I propose a grieving period of one month at the outside. After that, those parasites are gone. You have new plans.
  • Mistakes. Correct them and learn from them. You should be learning from any major actions which are less than impressive.
  • Unfairness. You've gotten a raw deal? Well, it's probably still a lot better than the one lived daily by millions of other people. We are simultaneously the victims and beneficiaries of a world of unfairness. Does this mean that we shouldn't strive to eliminate unfairness? Of course not, but we shouldn't be consumed by it.
  • Ingratitude. It's a shame that ingratitude exists but here's a way to reduce its power: Don't expect gratitude.
