A call from my friend in New Orleans. He had just gone by a law firm where people shoot dice on the front steps. He updated me on a court case and told the usual colorful stories about local politics and a couple of guys who got into a fight on Bourbon Street and wound up in the prison at Angola.
A highly unusual place, New Orleans. There's no other city in the United States that resembles it.
We agreed to talk again in a few weeks when his case goes to trial. Since he is an accomplished story-teller (New Orleans is full of them), I'll look forward to the conversation.
