A charming town. Move around on the map and check out the town square and the courthouse.
Barry Goldwater kicked off his presidential campaign there in 1964. The statue in front of the courthouse is of Buckey O'Neill, former sheriff and one of Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders.
Nearby is Whiskey Row, a collection of Old West bars. Sam Steiger, a colorful figure in national and Arizona politics, gained a surge in popularity by painting a crosswalk in the middle of the block.
He was later elected mayor.

I have people in Prescott. One of my aunts was an Arizonian, and when she and my uncle's marriage went south, she and most of her large clan (they had 9 children) moved south from San Jose to Prescott. Made a visit to see some of them a number of years ago when I was in the neighborhood for work. Were there still phone books, there would be a slew of Fines to find around them parts. E.

It's a nice town. I'm often tempted to move there.
