Dealing with a Bad Boss

As this CareerJournal article notes, retaliating against a bad boss carries definite risks (and using scissors on his jacket is downright nuts), but should you take the problem to your boss's boss?

The answer is, of course, it depends. There are some bosses who kiss up and kick down and their superiors think they are sweethearts. Surfacing the truth might bring serious help from upper management.

I believe, however, that those situations are rare in this sense: Most organizations know of the caliber of the boss or have reason to know. If they don't know what's going on it is because they don't want to know.

In those cases, the best way to deal with a bad boss is simple: flee.
