The Despair, Inc. poster in the earlier post that equates the quest for quality to a death march raises a serious question: Where are our goal posts?
When we were in school, the goal posts were clear: pass that test, complete that class, get that degree. Later, the goal posts are hazier and often the ones that can be seen keep moving away, like a mirage, as you near them.
Ambition + Work + No Goal Posts = Burn Out
The solution: Periodically taking time out to identify, appreciate, and celebrate achievements.
