Harrison has a great list. I might take all of next summer's reading time and just read Proust.

Great find. I was surprised by the number of time Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, and Melville show up on the lists. Reading them in college almost did me in. It was comforting to see Shakespeare, Twain, Heller, and Vonnegut on many lists. Maybe I just like a bit of amusement with my literature. Thanks for the post.

For all of the overlap, there were some noticeable differences. Given its popularity, I'd better read "Middlemarch." I was surprised that "Vanity Fair" didn't get on more lists and thought Trollope would be more popular.
