I would bet pretty good money that not a single one of those big ideas ever comes to anything. They all seem to be focused on old ideas which will somehow be engineered into economically viable reality, and my understanding it it ain't happening.
Far more likely the next thing which will change the world is small and overlooked, and only in hindsight will it appear obvious.
