Quote of the Day

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be.

- Kurt Vonnegut

I thought this sounded familiar. It has been said, in many variations, through the ages. My favorite form is the Irish "Act as if..." I can't find a version older than this Socrates quote:
"The nearest way to glory -- a shortcut, as it were -- is to strive to be what you wish to be thought to be" - quoted in Cicero, 44 BC.

-- Socrates (469-399 BC) Greek Philosopher

Very interesting.

BTW, Socrates would be a great name for your next parrot.
