Is It . . .

  • Rest or Preparation?
  • Study or Diversion?
  • Discussion or Thinking?
And is the "or" really "and?"

"Rest or preparation" reminds me of an article I read a long time ago on "incubating versus procrastinating". Details aside, the general gist of the article was:

Procrastinators put things off, usually because of sloth or lack of desire to complete the task. Their end result is often poorly patched together at the last minute (or late).

Incubators, on the other hand, give the initial appearance of inactivity or even sloth, but the end result is polished, well-thought-out and on time (or early).

Both are utilizing "rest;" but while the procrastinator allows "rest" to take priority over responsibility, the incubator is using "rest" to recharge and mentally prepare for the task at hand.
