Early Morning Fox

"Michael," my wife whispered. "Look out the window."

In the middle of our back yard was a beautiful fox. It stared at us for a moment and then walked into the bushes to the west.

We often see coyotes in our neighborhood, a green belt in Phoenix. The desert is not far away and the large irrigation canals weaving through the valley have convenient paths for any animal that wants to visit. The neighbors across the street had a raccoon family take up residence in their garage and some javalina pillaged a garden up the street. Rabbits and squirrels also make occasional appearances. A roadrunner darted by several years ago and there are owls, crows, hawks, ducks, and quail as well as a legion of other birds.

First fox.
