View From the Ledge, who likes to listen to the radio while traveling, points to a recent interview with Linda Ronstadt.
When I was a student at the University of Arizona in Tucson, there was much talk about The Stone Poneys, the group that helped to launch Linda Ronstadt's career. [She'd grown up in Tucson and comes from a prominent family there.] I recall hearing Stone Poney Bobby Kimmel at The Cup, a coffeehouse near the university, and thinking, "This guy is really good."
[Question: Is there any business that has more raw and brutal competition than the music biz? Spend a little time in the blues clubs on Beale Street in Memphis and you'll see relatively unknown musicians with world-class talent.]
