Sunday Evening

Looked at trees. [A neighbor just lost one overnight.] Did dishes and some correspondence. Visited with my son. Nudged my wife to get to the doctor for a back ailment. Watched a Poirot episode. Worked on a draft. Stared at the corpse of a mysterious bug which I suspect may be a bark beetle. Studied the clouds for rain. Planned my week. Listened to Gershwin. Talked to the dog. Read an article in National Review. Set aside a mail-in ballot. Prayed.

Melancholia frequently visits on Sunday evenings but when it comes to regrets, safety is in numbers. I've chosen to transform those moments into a period of reflection on blessings and for crafting plans of action.

Monday awaits. Have a great one.
