The Personal Question

Whether it is a nation, a business or a non-profit group, one question which is often overlooked is what sort of people are produced by a particular program or practice. The motives are usually noble but that alone is insufficient. Many tyrannies have been launched and supported with noble motives. No, it is important to look beyond the surface and explore the effects, both intended and unintended,. because over time policies and practices can alter even the strongest.

The same scrutiny can be applied to our daily routine by asking a simple question, "Is it making me stronger or weaker, better or worse?"

We may not like the answer. Our routines are comfortable and resistant to change but even our reaction to the question can be revealing.

Life has a way of seeming to move forward when it is still or in reverse.
