How Did They Get the Job?

If you have ever wondered why someone was hired, here are some possible reasons:

  • The employer needed to hire someone quickly and they were available.
  • They had some exotic credential that covered over the gaps in their experience.
  • Someone vouched for them.
  • The employer didn't want to go through an extensive recruitment process.
  • The employer didn't know what was required for the job.
  • The employer was solely interested in someone who would not create problems and they were thoroughly reliable.
  • They were already doing the job.
  • They created the job out of nothing but filled a real need.
  • They were a known commodity.
  • They knocked the job interview out of the ball park.
  • They looked the part.
  • They are good-looking.
  • They don't pose a threat.
  • Their employment assuaged the employer's guilt over past misdeeds.
  • On a strictly superficial basis, they made the employer look good.
  • They boosted the employer's ego.
  • They fit in with the rest of the team.
  • The employer simply wanted to give them a chance.
  • They are far more competent than you realize.
