My vote would be 2001, A Space Odyssey. I also thought Blade Runner was well done, and I enjoyed Star Trek, The Wrath of Khan. A guilty pleasure for me is The Fifth Element (more an action film / comedy).

My favorite is Forbidden Planet. Shakespearean drama set in outer space, with the cry "Monsters! Monsters from the ID!!"
Just love that movie.

Interstellar. Haunting.

I vote, as always, for Star Wars. Thank you for this wonderful list. There are a few I have not seen and this is a great reminder to get cracking.
