Agreed. An absolutely marvelous evocation of the Royal Navy in the Napoleonic wars. Better that the Hornblower novels, IMO. Incidentally, science fiction fans would enjoy the RCN (Republic of Cinnabar Navy) series which is an affectionate homage to the O'Brien novels. It might as well be Sailing Ships in Space for all the "science" in it, but just as much fun to read.
