Untrustworthiness: Passive Responses

Once trust is gone:
  • People are more courteous than friendly;
  • Meeting and lunch invitations dry up;
  • Committee assignments dwindle;
  • Proposals undergo perpetual study;
  • Good deeds are forgotten;
  • Promises are met with a small smile;
  • Statements are questioned;
  • Associates are suspect;
  • Competence is discussed; and
  • Promotions are dreams.

First step to recovery: Complete, direct, and sincere confessions and apologies.

I've noticed some have the gift of a Charismatic Teflon coating, but are generally secretly manipulative whereas others easily attract mistrust simply for being straightforward, honest and direct.....A quote I have often heard how can you trust anybody that won't drink with you (or doesn't drink)

Rob,

As the poet Elinor Wylie put it: "Beware the smooth, ambiguous smile with the lips that never part."
