The Achievement of the Moment

Mow a lawn. Trim a bush. Paint a bench. You'll instantly see the results.

The results may be less clear when we write a report, make a presentation or help a customer. That's why learning to appreciate the achievement of the moment is important. A well-crafted paragraph or chart can be as gratifying as a well-edged lawn. If we shoot past those moments, we may miss the art in our work. We may rob ourselves of a well-deserved sense of achievement.

Ah, well put. All too often we breeze past the everyday accomplishments simply because they do indeed happen everyday, a mental outlook which is akin to not celebrating the birth of your child simply because births also happen everyday.

Some of the greatest works are simply invisible part of processes which get swept up in the lager acheivement, but without which the larger would be quite impossible. There is great value in celebrating the everyday masterpiece.
