I may have found the perfect book for convalescence: Paul Theroux's The Last Train to Zona Verde.
Few things are as bad as an Angolan border station and Theroux, known for his curmudgeonly travel tales, has a keen eye.
Great for sickies. You can read a few pages and then ponder the ceiling.
