What Sort of People?

"You've told me what the organization demands of that group. You've also described the resources and timetables. Now tell me about the people. What sort of people are they? Are they well trained? If so, what in? How much experience do they have? How long have they been together? Where did they come from and where are they going? Is the group very diverse? What are their concerns? Their fears? What is their leadership structure like? How experienced are the leaders? How well do they lead? What was their last big achievement? What was their last failure? Is there much internal conflict? How would you describe the group's morale? What is that assessment based on? How would you compare them to similar teams? When was the last time you met with them?

"I know that these questions are a pain, but we also asked a lot of questions about those computers we bought and, as you know, people are a lot more important. And, I might add, more complicated.

"So, tell me some more."
