Today is Shakespeare's Birthday

The man was a genius.

Believe it or not, I got to see Dame Judith Anderson fulfilling one of her fantasies by playing the part of Hamlet in a production she produced for her own edification! She was quite good, by the way. Her age may have helped her voice sound more male-like. She was so short the staging had her elevated in subtle ways, especially when she was interacting with a couple of much taller players.
