The right word. The correct pace. The tone! The tone must be just so and all must blend neatly with the context. We scribble and type, little appreciating the power of a single word and how it can be restrained or boosted by its companions. Years of training and doing can produce an instinct which will tell you when something is wrong.
Warning: Sometimes the instinct does not kick in until the following day.
