Drudgery

Into every life a little drudgery must fall.

It enhances the allure of distractions and yet the completion of many distractions does not compare with the liberating feeling which accompanies completion of necessary but unappealing tasks.

Some people suggest holding out some reward for completion. That's not a bad incentive but I suspect that when the chore is done the biggest reward of all is that it is gone.

At least for a while.
