The day involved an army of little things which, if neglected, could become serious and so they needed to be done and not in a "when I get around to it" manner but in a cold, knock them off, one-by-one way because if you get too casual with the little things they start to swarm and bite.
They're dangerous little suckers and we probably shouldn't call them little.
