Passive Thought

You are not consciously thinking about a topic but you are passively thinking about it as you engage in other activities.

We've all done this. We've permitted our thoughts to percolate a while before we pour them into a cup.

I wonder if this passive thought eventually gives us a clearer picture because our subconscious has slowly taken away the irrelevant. We see by not seeing and focus by not focusing.

I was just thinking about religion in this exact same way, and it seems like I can think deeper and easier on a subject, that if I was actively thinking on it i wouldn't have been able to grasp it to the point that i have.

then I thought to myself, "i wonder if other people think like this, and I swear the way you describe it, is the exact same way I thought of it to be.

Mahayana,

I believe most people use this practice, although most probably do not realize it.

In Viktor Frankl's book, "Man's Search for Meaning," he notes how things that we desire can come our way precisely because we have reduced our striving to acquire them.
