Staff meetings and retreats often cover a multitude of topics while participants assume that agreement exists on core values. It makes sense to learn where people stand on the basics. I suggest periodic discussion of the following:
- Courage
- Loyalty
- Accountability
- Trust
- Caring
- Honesty
- Initiative
- Tact
- Wisdom

You left out competition. It's the one value we discuss in staff meeting every week. Who lost at golf? Whose favorite team lost the Sunday game? Whose kid didn't win the soccer match? Who looked most like a girl? It's great to go through your list and imagine taking a break once in awhile to discuss something a little deeper.
