Say howdy to George Carter, and thank him for taking the pistol from you when you were shooting at me.

Saw this the other day. Wonderful. I had to wonder at the same time if our man really wrote the letter himself, in that his kids were just beginning to be educated themselves. I hope he did, but even if he didn't he has a damn good friend that helped him. Thanks. E.

I read one report citing the chance that he may have dictated the letter.
