The Magic of Paper

At Instapundit: Do we retain more from paper?

I've noticed that I will spot things while editing a hard copy that I miss on screen.

You read differently on screen - your eyes jump around and you tend to read in "chunks". That's the nature of web design.

The screen is also far more distracting. If I have an important email with details to digest, I print out a hard copy. I find that I miss certain details on screen...

Jeff,

I have the same process with documents. It is too easy to miss things on the screen.

I suggest that the preferred reading medium is a matter of training and familiarity. After much practice, I am getting better at (proof) reading on tablet or monitor. I expect my children will wonder why our generation thought it difficult.
