President Obama has met one-on-one with Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell only once or twice in six years.
From The Chicago Tribune:
When [Lyndon] Johnson was president, he would call [Senate GOP leader Everett] Dirksen four, five and six times a day. Frequently, days would end with a bottle of bourbon between them at the White House or in Dirksen's Senate office.
