Horse Sense Update

Have you ever found yourself recalling old sayings while looking at various management practices?

One bit of folk wisdom that frequently comes to mind in my consulting practice is that it does no good to shut the barn door after the horse has escaped. [I can do a lot of neat things but so far the ability to rewind history has eluded me.] Think of how often problems get addressed too late.

I love reading old wisdom and considering how much applied today. Aesop should be required reading for aspriing MBA students. How much better meetings would go if the CEO would stand, gaze around the room, and say "But who will bell the cat?" and have everyone actually understand.

Dan,

True. We use some fine expressions at the peril of losing part of the audience.

My reaction: Use them anyway.
