When introducing a speaker, care should be taken to:
- Be brief.
- Increase the audience's desire to hear the speaker.
- Give a hint of the topic without getting into it.
- Avoid any unrelated or distracting topics or remarks.
- Be natural. [Don't read the introduction.]
- Avoid "stealing the thunder" by noting something extraordinary which the speaker may wish to cover.
- Show enthusiasm without unduly raising expectations.
