The Introduction: 7 Tips

When introducing a speaker, care should be taken to:

1. Be brief.
2. Increase the audience's desire to hear the speaker.
3. Give a hint of the topic without getting into it.
4. Avoid any unrelated or distracting topics or remarks.
5. Be natural. [Don't read the introduction.]
6. Avoid "stealing the thunder" by noting something extraordinary which the speaker may wish to cover.
7. Show enthusiasm without unduly raising expectations.
