A Good Man in Florida

FutureLawyer assembles his version of a nice room and silently prays that there won't be a power outage or a computer crash.

Michael, Michael. Your version of the room still requires power for your desklamp. My version can operate on battery power for a couple of days until the power company comes out to the island. And, without AC we will both be sweltering in the heat. I can bring my notebook computer and other battery operated peripherals to the beach, and tap away on the keyboard in my lap. Where, oh where, will you put your paper?

Rick,

Ah, it is a sad sight when the man who has forgotten the beauty of writing with a fountain pen has to cite batteries as a defense. I suppose they're the equivalent of candles but they lack grandeur, like driving a golf cart as opposed to riding a horse. As for the paper, there are pads and file folders and I don't have to worry about sand.

A horse, huh? I suppose you ride your horse to your consulting gigs? What will you say when I have a computer implanted in my temple, and connected to my visual cortex? :-)

Alas, given the choice between a horse and a golf cart, distance forces me to compromise with a car. I trust that, as a true techie Floridian, you have accessorized your golf cart so you can write briefs while speeding to the cafeteria for a meeting with your Early Bird Special clients.

The computer implant plan is disturbing and may even be a cry for help. Move away from the Dark Side. Buy a fountain pen today.
