No History

Imagine a doctor who doesn't want to know the patient's medical history or a lawyer who doesn't study the relevant cases and you'll have a sense of how some managers make decisions.

Was a similar project launched three years ago? Perhaps. Did a community group object to any aspects of the proposed course of action? No clue. Did the legal issues ever get sorted out? They assume they were but can't really say for certain. Who handled this project at its inception? Ed and Sara, but they're gone and they didn't leave any notes.

But you're ready to move forward? Oh yes.

"Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. When change is absolute there remains no being to improve and no direction is set for possible improvement: and when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." George Santayana
