Carrying your own spoon on a dinner date may protect you from future dates, too, and not just flies.

On the other hand, you can use it to free up space in your grab-and-go bag. It would sub for the spoon you were taking anyway, and replace the magnifying glass you need to have for starting fires and minor field surgery.
