On the Road
I was on the road for a large chunk of today, traveling to and from a Board meeting in southern Arizona.
Traffic was light and for most of the trip I kept the radio off so I could concentrate on my surroundings. There was an unexpected detour, then my route went past farms, a wildlife preserve, a prison, a shrimp farm, and a huge field packed with solar power panels. After that the road went through the desert and more farmland as well as over a couple of mountains.
I had to go through a Border Patrol checkpoint on the way back north. Most of the agents just peeked through car windows before waving people through. One agent had a dog which would occasionally sniff around a car. Getting through the checkpoint took all of three or four minutes. I don't believe I've ever seen anyone detained.
A beautiful white egret stood in the middle of a green field on the outskirts of Phoenix.
Several times during the trip I felt as if I were driving inside a painting.
But we do that every day. We are surrounded by extraordinary sights.
