Well Said

Passing the selection test into Soviet government under Stalin depended on more than just Stalin's whim. These people worked hard to excel in his eyes and to deliver the goods that he demanded. Theirs was no ordinary competitive sport: it entailed stepping over the bodies not only of real enemies of the Party and revolution but also of people whom they falsely represented as enemies of the Party and revolution.
