The Mental Diet
If the Internet is a global village, then every day we walk near some bad parts of town. There are sites that are undeniably evil but many are simply trashy; sites that demean, gossip, degrade, and fracture. They are, to borrow a description, junk food for the mind. I shudder to think of what high school kids are reading nowadays and wonder how their view of the world (and their attention span) will be shaped by the time they reach thirty.
