In many respects, management is the art of dealing with gaps.
Gaps between plans and execution, talent and engagement, resources and demands, time and deadlines, policies and practices, standards and enforcement, operations and support, upper management and middle management, management and labor, department A and department B, employees and customers, image and reality.
Gap management should be a specialized area of study.
