Brad Pitt's Architecture

Zach Patton looks at the "Katrina houses" Brad Pitt's Make It Right Foundation has built in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans and, although liking the designs, wonders if they are too extreme for the area.

Is this a case of "No good deed goes unpunished" or should the architects have paid more attention to whether the modernistic designs would fit into the neighborhood? I'm of two minds on it.

Having lived and work in N.O. for 14 years, they look completely out of place, but what do the citizens of the Big Sleazy think? Would be interesting if there is any polling about this down there.

I myself, would have preferred them keeping with some sort of traditional look, but maybe a house is a house, shelter from the storm and people getting them take what they will get.

E,

I like the designs and am glad that people in need are getting housing but wonder if the architects would be happy if someone built a house that was completely different from the style of homes in their neighborhood right next door to their house.
