What is the chief characteristic of a productive day? Well, that's simple, you may say. On productive days, I am productive.
But what does that mean? It means that a large part of your day has not been squandered in unproductive pursuits. You have been engaged in activities that are meaningful and which efficiently lead to a desirable goal.
So a key part of having a productive day is to avoid the meetings and activities that are unproductive. If that sounds obvious, keep a log of how your days are spent and tally up the time-wasters. You may find that a good half-day of each week goes right down the drain. In some cases, it may be an entire day that has been devoted to drift.
The chief characteristic of a productive day is the avoidance of drift.
