The Power of Pen and Paper

I used to visit my grandmother once a year. My mother always wrote me a letter while I was there. In college, I wrote letters to friends, catching them up on goings on. They wrote back. Typewritten letters, handwritten letters, cards filled with writing front and back. Letters were an evening's work for me. A cigar and a pot of coffee as I pondered what to say next. I've kept the letters I received from friends, family, my wife. Occasionally I flip through the folders and look at them. But they stop in the 1990's. The last one of significance was from my father.
