How about "hoosegow"? Can we start throwing people in the hoosegow again?

Michael Wade said...

Kurt,

Absolutely! That's one of the great old words.

You have to watch this....

Idea: Actually her vidcasts might be good for a case study on discrimination. She is obviously intelligent and confident, but should she be allowed to be the way she wants? In one sense it is uncomfortable to watch, but what is wrong with her? Yet it's easy to "understand" discrimination for the fat ugly gay black woman in a wheel chair

My college adviser was Dr. Curmudgeon according to his name plate. Bring that word back!

I think "gifting" has its place though. One gives to a friend and one gifts an item costing between $10 and $25 to the name on the office Christmas gift exchange slip. Giving is from the heart and gifting from social obligation. It's a concept that needs a word.

Anonymous,

Love the story about Dr. Curmudgeon but "gifting" is painful.

Please, please, please, kill "awesome".

And "let's make sure we're on the same page."

But let's keep "six of one, half a dozen of another."

It has a bit of "je ne sais quoi"...wait...is that out too?
