"I still believe that writing things out by hand is the best way to memorize things." Truth. I was a voice major in college, and I can't begin to tell you how many recitals I "crammed" for by writing out the lyrics to the arias long-hand, over and over again. Yes, in foreign languages. :-)
To add to my previous comment, it was not enough to simply memorize the words by rote. I had to know what they meant, so I could properly convey the message of the songs.
