Playing Hooky in Tombstone

I went to Tombstone, Arizona today.

It's been years since I've been there. If you look past the touristy stuff, such as the scheduled gunfights, the place has a lot to offer the history buff. The Birdcage Theater doesn't disappoint, nor does Boot Hill cemetary. The latter conveys just how violent the place was as marker after marker has messages such as "Shot," Stabbed," "Hanged," or "Killed by Indians."

Ah, the good old days!

(Trivia: The guide at the Courthouse mentioned that 20 percent of their tourists are Germans; many of whom are fans of the old Karl May novels.)
