An Alibi, Not a Solution

Rather than taking time to understand and craft a serious solution to a problem, many executives and managers are inclined to:
  1. Send out a policy statement so they can say they've done something.
  2. Order some superficial training so they can say they've done something.
  3. Bring in a well known speaker for a retreat so they can say they've done something.
  4. Placate some community groups so they can say they've done something.
  5. Increase the budget so they can say they've done something.
  6. Reorganize the department so they can say they've done something.
  7. Hire a PR firm so they can say they've done something.
